How to become a well-known youtuber

Hey G33ks,So I got a question from somebody "How do I become more known on Youtube" and it got me thinking. After thinking a LOT I came to the conclusion that unless you have some major talent (like you sing really good or are a very high-ELO League player), you will need to have lot's of money. And I can actually confirm this by looking at my own channel. (continue reading to learn more)okay, so for the sake of this post I will keep it to the thing I like the best (and since you are watching my stuff, you probably do as well): Tech. Now in order to become a big tech youtuber, you need to have tons of money. Why? Because Think about it, would you rather upload a video showing the latest and greatest TitanXP (at the time of writing, that is the biggest powerhouse available for consumers/prosumers), or would you upload a video showing the already outdated GTX660? You see where I'm going? What I mean is that if you want to become well-known you need to invest lots of money in getting the newest gear. Nobody cares about the card that was a big powerhouse 4 years ago, all the eyes are aimed towards the latest generation.Let's take the GTX1080 for example, an MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G costs about 833 euro (at the time of writing on azerty.nl) So our cost for just the graphicscard (which will be our content) is 833 euro. 1 Graphicscard means we can make about 4 videos (unboxing, benchmark + review, and comparison when a new gen comes out). This excludes gaming content you can make with it by the way!Ofcourse, this isn't everything. You will also need to have high-quality videos. For example, my videos nowadays are all shot with either my phone or my GoPro... While the GoPro has some nice video output, a nice DSLR or other high-end camera would obliterate it's video quality. A nice camera would be the Sony ALPHA A5000 which costs you about 429Euro on Coolblue.nl (again, at the time of writing)Combine that with the graphicscard cost, that set's you at about 1262. Now while the graphicscard can be used for just about 4 videos, the camera can be used for more. Then, you have nice video quality, but still, your audio sucks a crap ton. I don't know a lot about good quality microphones, but my guess would be that a nice microphone would be about 500 euro as well. making out price go up to 1762 euro. Then we still need a fast PC to render all our videos on, this can also cost about 1000 euro, making our investment going up to the 2262. You see where I'm going? Now while the components can be reused (the videocard for gaming, the camera and mic for more recordings and the PC for gaming + video editting), it still means we have to invest 2262 (if not more) for high-quality videos. And that is to even think that everything goes magically without you having to do lots of stuff (and torrenting your software n stuff) You see what I mean? This is one reason why channels like mine (who do huge effort, yet don't grow that much) struggle. We don't have the money to keep you guys showing the latest and greatest stuff, and this is quite sad. As I came across some other very talented youtubers, who made awesome videos, but because they could only show lower-quality tech, they didn't have that much viewers. Now I can confirm this in another way:Go look at the major tech youtubers. What do they all have in common? You guessed it, high-quality gear and high-end computers! What does that mean? Again, you guessed it, they have tons of money! Now this post isn't because I'm salty about that my Youtube isn't a big well-known youtube, but more because I think it's unfair that you MUST have money in order to do what you like, entertaining people. Well, I guess that was enough salt for one day :) G33k Out!
